It all began when one of their ancestors saved a silver dragon and thus managed to establish a relationship with it. This led the dragon to grant the Watatsumi house power, which would be passed down from generation to generation to the girl deemed worthy of that gift. From that moment on, it became an undisputed tradition that when a girl was born into a family, it was hoped that during her first 30 years of life her powers would awaken, and then during her 160 years the appearance of the mark would complete the succession and that the new bearer of the mark would be the new baroness. It is a house where power is valued, and they are great pioneers in growing military might. Ryuu never understood the family's internal conflicts, even though she was instructed in history classes from a young age. To her, they were just the ramblings of her tutor, and whenever she could, she would scape to watch her relatives practice magic, imitating their movements. She had no trouble adapting when she began her own classes, as if she were born for it. When the Mourning occurred (994), it brought about a great change in her family and her life. The internal fights and interests of the house intensified, which influenced the event that would determine her mark, a cultural event where her ability to create her own mark was tested. This occurred on her 160th birthday (Dravago 15, 998). The atmosphere was tense, which further diminished her interest in passing the tests. In the end, she failed to generate the necessary marks. The atmosphere in the house changed towards her, especially on the part of her mother, the baroness, and she was soon moved from the main castle to train with the other clan members who did not bear the marks, in one of the lesser houses.
Ryuu never tolerated this new environment. She tried to adapt, but after almost four months of mistreatment and abuse from many people, she couldn't take it anymore. The final straw came one day when she noticed one of her companions/servants putting a substance in her food. Overwhelmed by fear and confusion, she sought help from her older brother to escape. He devised a plan for her escape, as he too had suspicions, and thanks to his contacts in the underworld, he was able to secure Ryuu a passage without identifying her, along with a protector. Without a clear destination, Ryuu used every means available to escape, eventually boarding a train to Sharn, the largest city in Khorvaire. Upon arriving safely in Sharn, she was separated from her protector and found herself in a world completely different from her own. Soon, she found herself wandering through the city's inner corridors, deeper and deeper.Three months after leaving her family, now with a new name, Lumi Snowflake, and a new look, she cut her long white hair and dyed it orange to blend in. One day,while distracted, some children stole her belongings, chasing them through the alleys of the commune, she found their hideout where she was greeted by a halfling who looked no older than 40, named Bren Ivor, who offered her a place to stay in exchange for looking after the children there
His dragon mark appeared on a lonely night a couple of days after he left his family. On the night of the 15th of Rhaan, 998, when the Dravago moon was full, his right hand began to feel icy cold, more so than usual, and with an intense glow and great pain, the Shadow mark appeared on the back of his palm. Whenever he uses a spell, it seems to want to enlarge and emits a small, almost imperceptible glow.
